Benalmádena works well for families – better than most towns on the Costa del Sol. Selwo Marina, Sea Life, the cable car, a butterfly park, a free park with flamingos and a resort hotel with its own rides are all within a few kilometres of each other. The trick is knowing which ones are worth the ticket price and which age ranges each one actually suits.
This guide covers every family attraction in Benalmádena honestly, with prices, age guidance and the practical details that make or break a day out with kids.
- 01Start with Parque de la Paloma – it is free, has flamingos, peacocks, ducks and two playgrounds, and tells you immediately how long your kids can focus before spending €20 a head.

- 03Sea Life is compact and ideal for toddlers to preteens – around 200 species, a walk-through tunnel tank, sharks and rays. Located inside Puerto Marina.
- 04The cable car works well for children who can handle heights – 769 metres, birds of prey show at the summit, 15 minutes each way.
- 05Holiday World Resort is a hotel with its own rides, pools and entertainment – roller coaster, Ferris wheel, bumper cars and more. Better for school-age kids and teens.
- 06Aqualand is a separate water park brand – not part of Holiday World. Confirm current status before visiting.
- 07Selwo Marina currently has technical adjustments affecting the main pool – check the official site before booking if water activities are the priority.

The animals include peacocks, ducks, rabbits, goats, chickens and various bird species. They wander the paths freely – children can get close without barriers or tickets. There is also a café on site and workout zones for adults.
Opening hours are approximately 09:00–22:00 in winter and 09:00–23:00 in summer, though these are not fully confirmed on the 2026 official page – check locally on arrival. Entry is free. Parking is available nearby.

Sea Life Benalmádena
Toddlers to preteens · Puerto Marina · ~200 species
Sea Life is inside Puerto Marina at Avenida del Puerto Deportivo s/n. It is compact – around 200 species across themed zones including tropical rainforest, deep sea and Mediterranean environments. The walk-through tunnel tank with sharks, rays and turtles overhead is the highlight for most children.
Current opening hours show approximately 11:00–18:45 with last admission at 18:00, though hours vary seasonally. Exact ticket prices were not confirmed from official sources for 2026 – book through GetYourGuide for current pricing and to avoid queuing at the gate.
Sea Life works particularly well for younger children – it is sheltered, air-conditioned in summer and compact enough to hold attention without exhausting anyone. Allow around 90 minutes.
The Cable Car – Teleférico
Ages 5+ · 769 metres · Birds of prey show
The Teleférico runs from Arroyo de la Miel up to Mount Calamorro at 769 metres. The 15-minute ride is straightforward for children who are comfortable with heights. At the summit there are walking trails and a birds of prey display – eagles and falcons flying free above the ridge – which genuinely holds children's attention.
The birds of prey show costs extra: €7.00 adults, €4.00 children aged 3–11, cash only. Show times vary by season and can be cancelled for weather.

Holiday World Resort
Ages 6–15 · Hotel with rides and pools · Benalmádena
Holiday World is a resort hotel with its own amusement attractions on site – roller coaster, Ferris wheel, bumper cars, flying chairs, teacups, carousel, sky drop and a pirate bay area. Height restrictions apply on some rides. It operates as a hotel complex rather than a standalone park, so access arrangements depend on whether you are staying there or visiting as an external guest.
The resort has pools, restaurants, a kids' club, arcade and entertainment. It is the strongest option in Benalmádena for families who want rides alongside accommodation.
Transfer from Holiday World area to Málaga Airport is available – book in advance for the easiest departure.

Dolphin Watching from Puerto Marina
Ages 4+ · Puerto Marina · 2 hours
Dolphin watching boats depart from Puerto Marina most mornings. Common dolphins and bottlenose are both spotted regularly in these waters. The trips run for around 2 hours and are suitable for children aged 4 and above – younger children may find the boat ride uncomfortable if conditions are choppy.
Book on a calm weekday morning in May, June or September for the best conditions. Sightings are not guaranteed – the crew will confirm this before boarding.
