Marbella does not do cheap party boats. What it has is a sunset catamaran from Marina Banús every evening – DJ, drinks included, and the best view of the coast as the sun drops behind the mountains. Ninety minutes, no complicated itinerary, and the kind of evening out from Marbella that costs a fraction of a Puerto Banús beach-club table.
- 011.5-hour sunset catamaran departing Marina Banús – DJ, chillout music and drinks included
- 02Price from ~€40–60 per person – check current rates when booking
- 03No swimming stop – this is a sunset cruise, not a beach day
- 04Runs year-round but best from April through October for warm evenings and longer sunsets
- 05Book in advance in summer – evening slots fill fast in July and August
- 06Different from the daytime luxury catamaran: this is evening, music, social atmosphere
What to Expect
The catamaran departs from Marina Banús in the early evening, timing the cruise to catch the sunset from the water. The route follows the Marbella coastline – no specific destination, just a cruise out and back while the sky does its thing.
Music: DJ on board playing chillout and ambient sets. Not a nightclub – the vibe is relaxed rather than high-energy, which makes it work for a wide range of people. Think beach club background music rather than rave.
Drinks: included in the ticket price. Bar on board throughout the cruise.
The sunset: the views are genuinely good. With the Sierra Blanca mountains behind Marbella and the coast stretching west towards Estepona, the light in the last 30 minutes before sunset is the main reason to book this over a terrace bar.
No swimming: this is an evening cruise, not a beach trip. If you want the swimming stop, the daytime catamaran from Puerto Banús departs in the morning and afternoon.
Who Is It For
The sunset catamaran works for almost every type of visitor in Marbella:
Couples – a popular sunset date that costs less than dinner at a Puerto Banús restaurant and offers better views.
Groups – hen and stag parties, birthday groups and friend groups are common on the evening departures. The music and social setup works well for groups.
Families – the early evening timing and relaxed pace make it accessible for older children and teenagers. Not ideal for very young children who would struggle with the timing.
Solo travellers – the shared catamaran format means you end up talking to whoever is on board. It is one of the more social activities on the Costa del Sol.
Getting to Marina Banús
Puerto Banús is 8km west of Marbella town centre on the N-340. By taxi from central Marbella: ~10 minutes, ~€8–10. Free parking at the marina car parks.
The exact departure point within Marina Banús is included in your booking confirmation. Allow 10–15 minutes to locate the catamaran – the marina is large and some berths are a 5-minute walk from the main entrance.
Sunset Catamaran vs Daytime Catamaran
Both tours depart from Puerto Banús but serve different purposes:
| Sunset Catamaran | Daytime Catamaran | |
|---|---|---|
| Duration | 1.5 hours | 2 hours |
| Swimming stop | No | Yes |
| Music/vibe | DJ, social | Relaxed, scenic |
| Best for | Evening, groups | Families, couples |
| Timing | Evening | Morning / afternoon |
If you are visiting for a week, both are worth booking on different days.
Either way, know what you are booking: this is a cruise, not a beach day. Pick the sunset slot, keep your expectations about swimming realistic, and it is one of the better-value evenings out of Puerto Banús.
