Selwo Aventura Estepona 2026: Tickets, Animals & Honest Tips

Selwo Aventura is a safari park with over 200 species across 100 hectares – giraffes, white rhinos, cheetahs, hippos, wolves and more, in open enclosures rather than zoo cages. It sits just off the A-7 east of Estepona and takes a full day to cover properly. A skip-the-line ticket costs €23, against box office prices from €29.90, and the L-79 bus stops outside if you are not driving.

The 4.2 rating is worth reading rather than skipping. Value for money is the lowest-scored part of the reviews, and the surprise reviewers mention is that the safari truck tour is sold separately – add parking and the zip-line and the day costs more than the ticket suggests. Every extra is priced below, so none of it should catch you out.

Selwo Aventura is not Selwo Marina

The names cause real confusion, so settle it before you book. Selwo Aventura is the large safari park in Estepona – African animals, wolves, a savanna zone and a full day out. Selwo Marina is a much smaller marine park in Benalmádena, focused on sea animals, penguins and dolphin shows, and better suited to a half-day. They are run by the same group but are separate parks around 40 minutes apart, with separate tickets.

What's inside the park

African savanna zone

The main draw. Open landscape with giraffes, white rhinos, zebras, ostriches and wildebeest in large open enclosures, much of it visible from the walking paths. For a closer look, the Serengeti Safari takes an off-road truck through the Lakes Reserve among the rhinos, hippos, zebras and antelopes – it is a paid extra, not part of standard admission, and runs at set times, subject to availability.

Jungle and tropical zone

Smaller enclosures with cheetahs, hippos, meerkats, exotic birds and primates. More traditional zoo format than the savanna zone.

European wildlife zone

Iberian wolves, brown bears, lynx. The wolf enclosure is one of the best exhibits in the park.

Reptile house

Snakes, crocodiles and lizards in a covered building. Good for a break from the sun.

Zip-line and adventure activities

Hanging bridges run through the park at no extra cost, and the Ziwa zip-line, stretching over 100 metres, is an add-on. Recent visitors report paying around €7 extra for it – confirm the price on the day, as it is not part of the admission ticket. Popular with older children and teenagers.

Animal shows and feeds

Scheduled throughout the day. Check the daily programme at the entrance when you arrive.

Selwo uses dynamic pricing, so every figure here is a "from" price that moves with the date and how far ahead you buy. Checked on 17 September 2026:

The one price to avoid is the gate. Selwo's own website can undercut the €23 ticket on quiet dates, so if you are flexible it is worth a look. The GetYourGuide ticket is the simple fixed price for a set date, with skip-the-line entry – it is non-refundable, so book it once your date is fixed.

Visiting Benalmádena too? The SelwoPack combines Selwo Aventura, Selwo Marina and the Benalmádena Cable Car in one ticket. Selwo's price page lists it from €48.90, one price for all ages, and each park can be visited on any day until the end of the season without booking a date in advance. It only pays off if you genuinely want all three.

Getting there

• By car: off the A-7 at km 162.5 in the Cancelada area, between Estepona and Marbella. Parking on site costs €5 per vehicle.
• By bus: Avanza line L-79 (Marbella–Estepona) stops directly outside the park on the A-7, about 10 minutes from Estepona centre and roughly 30–45 minutes from Marbella bus station, depending on traffic. Cash fares are paid to the driver.
• From Málaga: ~45 minutes by car via the A-7. Worth combining with a morning in Estepona or Marbella on the same day.

Is it worth it?

For families with children under 12, yes. The scale of the park, the wolf enclosure and the open savanna make it the best animal day out on the Costa del Sol, and the open enclosures are significantly better than a traditional zoo format.

Buy tickets ahead, arrive at 10:00 when the park opens, book the safari if you want it, and head to the African zone first. Bring sunscreen – the savanna has little shade.

For adults without children, it depends on your interest in wildlife. The park is well maintained and the large animal zone is genuinely impressive, but 5–6 hours is a long time if safari parks are not your thing. If you only have a few hours, skip it: Selwo needs a full day to justify the ticket and the journey, and Selwo Marina in Benalmádena is the shorter animal outing.
