Where to Stay in Fuengirola
Fuengirola splits naturally into five staying zones. The beachfront is the obvious choice for first-timers. The eastern end is better for quieter stays. The centre is best if you are using the town as a base for day trips. The right area depends more on how you plan to spend your days than on price.

The 5 Staying Zones
| Zone | Best for | Price level | Main downside |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beachfront / Paseo Marítimo | Beach access, couples, first-timers | Mid–luxury | Pricier and busier in peak season |
| Town centre / old town | Day-trippers, budget, train access | Budget–mid | Less resort feel |
| Marina / Puerto Deportivo | Social travellers, harbour views | Mid-range | Busy evenings, less quiet |
| Los Boliches | Families, couples, repeat visitors | Mid-range | Still busy in summer |
| Carvajal / Torreblanca | Quiet stays, self-catering, longer trips | Budget–mid | Further from centre and station |
Zone 1 – Beachfront / Paseo Marítimo
The seafront strip is the most in-demand area in Fuengirola. Hotels here sit on or directly behind the promenade with immediate beach access. It suits beach-first travellers, couples and families who want to minimise the distance between room and sand.
The main trade-off is price and noise. Seafront rooms command the highest rates in town, and the promenade is busy from late morning through the evening in summer. If you want peace and quiet, look one or two streets back from the front or go further east.
Hotel El Puerto by Pierre & Vacances ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The strongest all-round location in Fuengirola – 50 metres from the beach and 300 metres from the bus and train station. That combination is rare: most seafront hotels require a longer walk to the station. Suits first-time visitors, families and anyone who wants maximum flexibility without sacrificing beach access.
Hotel Angela ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Adults-only beachfront hotel with an infinity pool directly on the Paseo Marítimo. The strongest dedicated couples option in Fuengirola. No children means noticeably calmer pool area and quieter communal spaces. Not suitable for families.
Zone 2 – Town Centre / Old Town
The centre is the best area if train access matters. Fuengirola station is walkable from most central hotels, which makes this zone ideal for day-trip focused trips – Málaga in 45 minutes, Marbella by bus, Gibraltar by coach. The beach is still accessible but you walk a few minutes further than from the seafront.
Price levels are lower than the beachfront. The atmosphere is more urban – restaurants, shops and local life rather than a resort bubble. Some streets are busier than visitors expect.
Casa Consistorial ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Boutique hotel in a converted historic building in the old town. Rooftop terrace and pool. A good pick for couples and city-break travellers who want character over resort facilities.
Zone 3 – Marina / Puerto Deportivo
The marina area is a natural compromise – close to both the old town and the beach, with the added atmosphere of the waterfront bars and restaurants. It works well for social travellers and couples who want evening options within walking distance.
The downside is noise. Puerto Deportivo fills up from 21:00 in summer and the area stays busy late. Not the right zone if you want quiet nights.
Las Palmeras Affiliated by FERGUS
Harbour-facing hotel close to the beach in the marina zone. A practical mid-range option for travellers who want the marina atmosphere with easy access to the rest of town.
Zone 4 – Los Boliches
Los Boliches is consistently the best all-round zone for families and couples who want good value without being fully central. The beach here is Los Boliches-Gaviotas – the longest stretch of calm water in Fuengirola. The neighbourhood has a local feel with fewer tour groups than the central seafront.
It is still practical for transport – the C1 has a Los Boliches station – and the promenade connects it to the rest of Fuengirola on foot.
Hotel Yaramar ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Directly by Los Boliches beach on the Paseo Marítimo. Strong location for couples and beach-focused travellers. The hotel has a good reputation for location and facilities. Better suited to adults and couples than large family groups.
Zone 5 – Carvajal / Torreblanca
The quietest end of the Fuengirola strip. These eastern neighbourhoods have a calmer, more residential feel and draw fewer day-trippers. Carvajal beach is the least crowded of Fuengirola's main beaches.
The trade-off is distance. The train station and old town are a 25–30 minute walk. If you have a car or are happy to use a taxi, it is not a problem. If you want to walk everywhere, it adds up.
Best suited to longer stays, self-catering, and visitors who prioritise calm over convenience.
Hotel Monarque Torreblanca ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Beachfront hotel in Torreblanca with large balconies and a quieter setting than central Fuengirola. Good pick for couples and adults who want beach access without the central noise levels.
Globales Gardenia
Beachfront property in the Carvajal zone with pools. Suits quieter self-catering style stays. Good for longer trips where calm beach access matters more than proximity to town.
Apartments and Self-Catering
Apartments are widely available in Fuengirola and practical for families or longer stays. Kitchen access, more living space and flexible meal times make them a strong alternative to hotels for trips of a week or more.
The best zones for apartments are Los Boliches, the seafront and the centre – all keep shops, the promenade and transport links within easy reach.
Fuengirola Beach Apartamentos Turísticos
Well-located apartment complex on Booking.com with beach access. A practical option for self-catering stays in the central seafront zone.
