Fuengirola Family Resorts

The best family resorts near Fuengirola are mostly in Mijas Costa – the stretch of coast just west of the town. That is worth knowing before you book. The Wyndham complex has a free kids club for ages 4–15 and a children's pool. Hotel IPV Palace sits beachfront next to Castillo Sohail. Both are solid picks.

Wyndham Grand Costa del Sol

The strongest family resort option near Fuengirola. The kids club covers ages 4–15, split into three age bands: 4–7, 8–12 and 13–15. It is free and does not require advance booking, though programmes vary by season. The resort also has a children's pool, outdoor play area and teen zone alongside the adult facilities.

The location is in Mijas Costa / El Faro, immediately bordering Fuengirola rather than in the town centre. That means a short drive or taxi to reach the town, markets and main attractions – but the resort itself has enough on site to keep children occupied for most of a stay.

Why book here:

  • Free kids club is a genuine differentiator – most Costa del Sol hotels charge for children's programming
  • Age-split groups mean the 4–7 and 13–15 year olds are not lumped together
  • Full resort infrastructure – pools, restaurants, entertainment and parking on site

The main caveat: It is not in Fuengirola proper. If you want to walk to the Paseo Marítimo, the markets or the old town, you need transport.

Ramada Hotel & Suites Costa del Sol

Part of the same complex as Wyndham Grand, Ramada offers 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom self-catering suites. Guests have full access to the wider resort facilities including the kids club, teen zone, pools, bars, restaurants and live entertainment programme.

The self-catering format is the main reason to choose Ramada over the Wyndham Grand. Having a kitchen means flexibility on meal times – significant with young children or fussy eaters. The larger suite formats work well for families who need separate sleeping areas.

Why book here:

  • Kitchen access makes meal logistics easier with young children
  • Access to all Wyndham Grand facilities including the free kids club
  • More living space than a standard hotel room

The main caveat: Same location issue as Wyndham Grand – Mijas Costa rather than Fuengirola centre.

Hotel IPV Palace & Spa ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The strongest family option within Fuengirola itself. Located beachfront on the A7 at km 207, next to Castillo Sohail at the western end of town. The hotel has two outdoor pools – one dedicated to children – and confirmed family room types.

The location is a genuine advantage for families who want beach access and town proximity combined. El Castillo beach is directly outside, and the Paseo Marítimo gives walking access to the rest of Fuengirola without needing a car.

Important note: Booking.com labels Hotel IPV Palace as "Adults Recommended." The hotel does accept families and has children's facilities, but the positioning means the atmosphere skews toward couples and adults. If you want a resort where families are the primary demographic, the Wyndham complex is the better fit.

Why book here:

  • Best location of the three – genuinely in Fuengirola, beachfront
  • Children's pool and family rooms confirmed
  • Walking distance to the castle, promenade and central town

Apartment Options for Families

Self-catering apartments are widely available in Fuengirola and often the most practical choice for families, particularly for stays of a week or more. The advantages are significant: kitchen access, more living space, flexible meal times and lower overall cost when you factor in restaurant savings.

The best areas for family apartments are Los Boliches and the central seafront – both keep you close to the calm beach, the promenade and easy transport links.

Several apartment complexes appear in family searches for Fuengirola. Verify current facilities and availability directly on Booking.com – apartment stock changes seasonally and smaller complexes may not have consistent online listings.

Best Areas for Families

Los Boliches

The strongest area within Fuengirola town itself. Los Boliches-Gaviotas beach is the longest stretch of calm water in Fuengirola with confirmed children's areas and pedal boats. The neighbourhood has a local feel with good transport links – the C1 Cercanías has a Los Boliches station.

Best for: families who want easy beach access, a local feel and lower prices than the central seafront.

Mijas Costa / El Faro

The area immediately west of Fuengirola where the Wyndham and Ramada complex is located. Larger resort infrastructure than you find in the town itself – more pool space, more green areas and quieter surroundings. Less walkable to Fuengirola's town centre.

Best for: families who want a dedicated resort experience and are happy to drive or take a taxi into Fuengirola for evenings out.

Central Fuengirola / Paseo Marítimo

The most convenient location for combining beach with town activities. Higher prices than Los Boliches, busier in summer. Best for families who want to walk everywhere.

Practical Family Information

Kids clubs: The most clearly verified free kids club in this area is at Wyndham Grand (ages 4–15). Most standard hotels in Fuengirola do not have a kids club – it is a resort-specific feature. If a kids club is a non-negotiable, the Wyndham complex is the strongest verified option.

All-inclusive: All-inclusive packages are available in the Fuengirola area. Not all hotels offer it and availability changes seasonally. Confirm directly with the hotel or filter by all-inclusive on Booking.com when searching.

Waterslides and splash zones: No hotel in the immediate Fuengirola area was confirmed as having waterslides at time of writing. For a dedicated waterpark day, Aqualand Torremolinos is the nearest option – around 15–20 minutes along the coast.

Booking timing: For July and August, book 4–6 months ahead for beachfront family rooms at the better hotels. The Wyndham complex and IPV Palace fill early for peak summer. Shoulder season (May–June, September–October) has more flexibility and significantly lower prices.

Travelling with very young children

For toddlers and babies, the Ramada self-catering suites are the most practical option – kitchen access, space and the resort's children's pool on site. Within Fuengirola, Los Boliches beach is the best beach choice for very young children with its calm water and pushchair-friendly promenade access.

Getting to Fuengirola with Children

The C1 Cercanías from Málaga Airport takes 34 minutes and costs €2.70 per adult. It runs every 20 minutes and has space for pushchairs. For families with significant luggage, car seats or young children, a private transfer to your hotel is often more practical. See the Málaga Airport to Fuengirola transfer guide for current options.

Which family hotel is right for you?
Choose this if...
Choose Wyndham Grand if a free kids club across multiple age groups is your priority and you are happy with a Mijas Costa location. Choose Hotel IPV Palace if you want to be in Fuengirola itself with beachfront access and a children's pool. Choose Ramada suites if self-catering matters – kitchen access with full resort facilities.
Avoid this if...
Avoid central Fuengirola hotels if a resort-style experience with kids club and activity programme is what you need – most town-centre hotels are standard beach hotels without dedicated children's facilities. Avoid booking for July–August without checking availability early – the best family rooms at these properties fill months ahead.

For the town itself rather than the resort strip, the Fuengirola guide covers beaches and things to do.
