Beachfront hotels in Torremolinos – the seafront hotels on the beach – sit on three of the town's beaches: Meliá Costa del Sol at El Bajondillo, La Barracuda and Hotel Ocean House at La Carihuela, and Sol Príncipe and Los Jazmines at Playamar. What counts as a beachfront or seafront hotel in Torremolinos?

Torremolinos has four municipal beaches, and the hotels here sit at three of them: La Carihuela (2,280 m long), El Bajondillo (1,292 m) and Playamar (1,106 m), according to the municipal beach charter; the fourth, Los Álamos (1,569 m), is the most remote. A seafront promenade, the Paseo Marítimo, runs behind all of them – see our guide to the four beaches.

We haven't verified which rooms face the sea. A hotel on the front can still have street- or pool-facing rooms, so check the room view when you book; Sol Príncipe's listing, for instance, says its balconies have "sea or pool views".

Beachfront hotels at El Bajondillo

Meliá Costa del Sol is on the Paseo Marítimo at Playa del Bajondillo, with a rooftop terrace with sea views, an outdoor pool, a gym and a spa, according to its Booking.com listing. Turismo Torremolinos lists it as a 4-star hotel, and the listing puts Carihuela beach and the town centre within 500 m.

The hotel has its own lift down to the beach, which Turismo Torremolinos says is normally open only in summer, so don't count on it in winter. Bajondillo is also the beach below the old town; our Torremolinos walking tour links the two.

Beachfront hotels at La Carihuela

La Barracuda is "next to Torremolinos' Carihuela Beach", with an outdoor pool, a rooftop bar and rooms with a balcony, according to its Booking.com listing, which lists the beach 50 m away. Its listing puts Málaga Airport 15 minutes by car.

Hotel Ocean House Costa del Sol, now under the Grupotel name, offers "direct beachfront access" with a pool, a gym, yoga classes, a games room and an outdoor play area, says its listing, which lists La Carihuela Beach 100 m away. If you want hotels near the beach rather than on it, two adults-only hotels in the same quarter are close: the BLUESEA Alborán lists La Carihuela Beach 200 m away, and the Hotel Riu Palace Nautilus is less than 1 km from it, according to their Booking.com listings. Both are in the area guide linked at the top.

Beachfront hotels at Playamar

Sol Príncipe sits on the Playamar beachfront with direct beach access, according to its Booking.com listing, which adds lagoon-style pools, a heated indoor pool, a children's pool, a play area and summer kids' clubs. Hotel Los Jazmines is on Playamar beach, with an outdoor pool, a children's pool, a restaurant and a rooftop bar, says its listing, which lists Bajondillo Beach 100 m away. It says only "select rooms" have sea views, so ask for one if the view matters.

Which beachfront hotel should you pick?

Pick by the beach you want, in our judgement: Meliá for El Bajondillo and the old town above it, La Barracuda or Ocean House for La Carihuela's restaurants, and Sol Príncipe if you are travelling with children. We found no verified comparison of noise at night, so we don't rank the hotels on it.
