Where to Stay in Benalmádena 2026: Area Guide & Best Hotels

Benalmádena has three distinct areas and staying in the wrong one for your holiday type is the most common mistake visitors make. The Costa strip is beach hotels and resort facilities but also tourist pricing and summer crowds. Arroyo de la Miel has better transport links, lower prices and a more local feel. The Pueblo is quiet, scenic and best suited to couples who want to escape the resort atmosphere entirely.

This guide covers all three areas honestly so you can pick the right one before you book.

Quick Takeaways
  1. 01Benalmádena Costa: best for beach access, family resorts and marina nightlife – most hotels, highest prices.
  2. 02Arroyo de la Miel: best for value, local atmosphere and transport – train station here, prices 30–40% lower than the coast.
  3. 03Benalmádena Pueblo: best for couples wanting quiet – boutique hotels, village character, panoramic views.
  4. 04Peak season (July–August) averages around £137–£264 per night depending on hotel class. Book 3–6 months ahead.
  5. 05All-inclusive confirmed at: Globales Los Patos Park, Holiday World properties, Benalmádena Palace, Hotel Bali and others.
  6. 06Family standout: Globales Los Patos Park for waterpark facilities. Benalmádena Palace for pools and resort amenities.
  7. 07Budget pick: Hostal Sol y Miel in Arroyo de la Miel – 2 minutes from the train station, significantly cheaper than the coast.

Benalmádena Costa – Beach and Resort Strip

Best for: Beach access, families, nightlife, marina atmosphere

Benalmádena Costa is where most visitors stay. The seafront promenade connects the beaches, Puerto Marina and most of the hotels in one long strip. Everything is walkable from a Costa hotel – beach, restaurants, boat trips and the marina.

The trade-off is price and crowds. July and August are the busiest months – beaches fill by 10:00, restaurants need booking and the marina gets loud after midnight.

Best hotels on the coast:

All-inclusive options confirmed: Globales Los Patos Park, Holiday World Polynesia, Holiday World RIWO, Holiday World Village, Benalmádena Palace, Benalma Hotel, Hotel Bali and Best Hotel Benalmádena all currently offer all-inclusive board options. Confirm board basis directly when booking as availability changes by season.

Best for families: Globales Los Patos Park is the standout family choice with waterpark-style facilities. Benalmádena Palace is strong for pools and resort amenities.

Take note
If nightlife is not important, consider a hotel slightly east of Puerto Marina toward Malapesquera or Fuente de la Salud. Same beach access, quieter at night, and often better value than the marina-facing properties.

Transfers from the airport: A private transfer from Málaga Airport to Benalmádena Costa takes around 20 minutes.

Arroyo de la Miel – Best Value and Transport

Best for: Value, local atmosphere, transport connections, longer stays

Arroyo de la Miel is where Benalmádena actually lives. The Cercanías C1 train station is here – direct to Málaga Airport and Málaga city in 20–35 minutes. The pedestrian streets have local bars, bakeries and restaurants at prices 30–40% lower than the coast.

The beach is around 2–3 km away – a 25-minute walk downhill or a short taxi ride. Not ideal if beach-every-morning is the priority, but perfect if you want a base with good transport and local character.

Best hotels in Arroyo de la Miel:

Hostal Sol y Miel is the clearest verified option – budget to mid-range, about 2 minutes from the train station. Practical, central and significantly cheaper than any seafront equivalent.

The area also has a strong apartment rental market – Booking.com, Hotels.com and similar platforms list a wide range of self-catering options around Arroyo de la Miel and Pueblo Quinta.

Pro tip
If you are planning day trips to Málaga, Torremolinos or Fuengirola, staying in Arroyo de la Miel makes the most sense. You are on the C1 line – all three are reachable in under 30 minutes without a car.

Benalmádena Pueblo – Quiet and Scenic

Best for: Couples, boutique stays, village atmosphere, views

Benalmádena Pueblo at 200 metres above sea level is the quietest and most characterful place to stay in Benalmádena. Two confirmed boutique options currently operating:

Boutique Hotel Pueblo – small, central in the old village, currently active with live booking pages. The most authentic village stay option.

Hotel La Fonda – upscale boutique style, restored white-house character, traditional Andalusian courtyard and spa. The most polished option in the Pueblo and one of the best hotels in the municipality.

The trade-off is convenience – the beach is a 10–15 minute drive down, and you need a car or taxi for everything on the coast. Not suitable as a base if you want to walk to the beach. Perfect if you want whitewashed streets, panoramic views and distance from the resort atmosphere.

Take note
Hotel La Fonda is the best hotel in Benalmádena if views, character and a spa matter more than beach proximity. Book it for a special occasion or a couples trip – it is significantly more memorable than any equivalent price point on the Costa strip.

Book Early for July and August

Peak season in Benalmádena sells out fast – particularly family resorts and beachfront hotels. Book 3–6 months ahead for July and August. Shoulder season (April–June and September–October) is easier to book last-minute and significantly cheaper.

Choose Your Stay
Choose this if...
Stay in Benalmádena Costa if beach access every morning is the priority – most hotels, most facilities, easiest for families. Stay in Arroyo de la Miel if value and transport matter – train to the airport, 30% cheaper than the coast, local atmosphere. Stay in the Pueblo for a couples trip or boutique experience – Hotel La Fonda or Boutique Hotel Pueblo for the most characterful stay. Book 3–6 months ahead for July and August regardless of which area you choose.
Avoid this if...
Do not stay in the Pueblo if you want to walk to the beach every day – it is a 10–15 minute drive down to the coast. Do not book last-minute for peak summer – beachfront and family resorts sell out months ahead. Do not assume all-inclusive availability without confirming board basis directly – it changes by season and operator. Do not overlook Arroyo de la Miel if budget matters – same destination, lower prices, better transport.

Each area connects to different beaches and restaurants, mapped out in the full Benalmádena guide.
